Program Overview

The MAq is a non-thesis degree that prepares students for a career in aquaculture management or extension.


Program Requirements

The degree requires successful completion of a minimum of 42 semester hours beyond the bachelor's degree, including:


  • Graduate business-related courses (6-12 hours)
  • Several FISH courses, including:
    • FISH 6210: Principles of Aquaculture
    • FISH 6220: Water Science
    • FISH 6240: Hatchery Management
    • FISH 6250: Aquaculture Production
    • FISH 6410: Introduction to Fish Health
    • FISH 7640: Fish Nutrition
    • FISH 7950: Exit Seminar
  • A 3- to 5-month internship (FISH 7920)

Assessment and Evaluation

In addition to completing all coursework and the internship, students must pass a comprehensive oral examination.
