Introduction to Mini U Summer Camps

The University of Manitoba offers a range of summer camps for children and youth through its Mini U program. These camps provide opportunities for participants to discover new passions, develop essential skills, and unlock their potential in a supportive and engaging environment.

Program Structure

The Mini U summer camps are structured into different age groups, each with its own set of activities and focus areas. The age groups are:

  • Camps for ages 4-7: These camps focus on exploring worlds of physical activity, art, and science through hands-on activities in a welcoming and playful environment. The goal is to encourage physical play and promote a healthy lifestyle.
  • Camps for ages 8-11: Campers in this age group indulge their adventurous side and discover a range of sports and activities designed to develop skills and reveal new strengths while challenging their minds and bodies.
  • Camps for ages 12-18: Focused on leadership and development, these camps allow participants to build on their abilities through recreation programming and special interest camps.

Summer Camp Dates

The summer camps are run on a weekly basis throughout July and August. The specific dates are:

  • Camp Play Days: July 2 - 3
  • Week 1: July 6 - 10
  • Week 2: July 13 - 17
  • Week 3: July 20 - 24
  • Week 4: July 27 - 31
  • Week 5: August 4 - 7 (four-day camp week due to a statutory holiday)
  • Week 6: August 10 - 14
  • Week 7: August 17 - 21
  • Week 8: August 24 - 28
  • Week 9: August 31 - September 4

Registration Process

Registration for the Mini U summer camps opens on February 11 at noon. The process involves:

  1. Selecting a Week: Choosing a week that works best for the camper's schedule.
  2. Finding a Camp: Selecting a camp that sparks the child's interest and helps them develop their skills and leadership.
  3. Registering: Completing the registration to reserve a spot for the summer adventures.

New Customers

New customers need to create an account and ensure all family members are added to the account correctly.

Returning Customers

Returning customers log in to their account, ensuring all campers are listed under 'My Groups.'

How Registration Works

On the first day of registration, a waiting room and digital queuing line open at 11:50 a.m. The system randomizes all users in the queue at noon, and when it's the user's turn, they can register all members of their family.

Preparation for Registration

It's essential to log in to the account, confirm the primary adult's profile is visible, and ensure all children are included under "my groups" before registration opens.

After Registration

Changes to registration are not permitted on the opening registration dates. An email confirmation of the registration is sent within 24 hours, and participants should check to ensure their registrations are as intended.
