Preparatory Skills Program

The Preparatory Skills program at the University of Manitoba is designed to strengthen students' knowledge and provide them with the necessary university prerequisites for success in their chosen courses.

Course Features

• Online courses available from anywhere in Canada
• Course fee: $840.00 plus GST per course (pricing subject to change without notice)

Math Skills

The Math Skills program includes two courses: MSKL 0050 Basic Skills in Mathematics and MSKL 0100 Mathematical Skills. These courses are designed to refresh or strengthen math skills, preparing students for university math studies.

MSKL 0050 Basic Skills in Mathematics

This course provides an overview of basic computational, algebra, and geometric concepts essential for success in a pre-calculus course. Students will learn basic calculations involving integers and fractions, algebraic computations, and geometry.

MSKL 0100 Mathematical Skills

This course provides an overview of mathematical concepts necessary for success in an undergraduate setting. Students will learn to apply mathematical skills to various situations, consistently and with confidence. Upon successful completion, students will receive a letter grade acceptable to the Department of Mathematics as evidence of preparation for entry into selected University of Manitoba mathematics courses.

• Minimum passing grade: C

Chemistry and Physics

Extended Education no longer offers Chemistry Skills or Physics Skills. However, alternative courses are available through the University of Manitoba Faculty of Science:
