Dental Hygiene Degree Completion Program (BScDH)

The Dental Hygiene Degree Completion Program is designed for licensed dental hygienists who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. This program is offered by the School of Dental Hygiene, which has a 50-year history of producing quality graduates who have become leaders in the profession.

Program Details

• The program duration is 1 or 2 years, depending on prior education.
• The program requires the completion of 120 credit hours, including both coursework and clinical experience.
• Credit requirements vary for University of Manitoba graduates based on their graduation year:
  • Graduates after 2007: 19 credit hours
  • Graduates between 1993 and 2007: 21 credit hours
  • Graduates before 1993: 45 credit hours (including 24 credit hours of electives and 21 dental hygiene baccalaureate credit hours)

Admission Requirements

• The program is an advanced entry program.
• To qualify, applicants must:
  • Hold a diploma in dental hygiene from an accredited program.
  • Possess a National Dental Hygiene Certification Board (NDHCB) certificate.
  • Maintain current licensure to practice dental hygiene in Canada, with eligibility for licensure in Manitoba.
  • Complete prerequisite courses with a minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 in their diploma or associate degree program.
