Prerequisite

A grade of no less than C in Introductory Accounting for Municipal Managers (FINC 0180) is required.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

• describe and discuss the various principles and theories applicable to municipal governments
• demonstrate knowledge of fund accounting principles and procedures
• effectively communicate the treasury function of local government, including the financial powers of a municipality
• apply accounting theories and principles to the practical requirements of managing the financial administration of a local government, including maintaining the municipal financial information system
• manage the financial powers of a local government, including budgeting, authorization of spending, revenue generation, capital projects and money management, in a manner that meets the requirements of statutory controls, elected council's directions, accounting principles and the users of the financial information
