Introduction to Mini U Programs
The University of Manitoba's Mini U programs offer a unique summer camp experience in Winnipeg, MB, providing children and youth with the opportunity to discover new passions and develop essential skills. With over 40 years of experience, UM Children's Programs have become a trusted provider of active, special interest, and sport camps.
Program Offerings
Mini U programs cater to various age groups, including:
- Camps for ages 47: Encouraging creativity and exploration of new activities, interests, and sports in a welcoming environment.
- Camps for ages 811: Inviting participants to explore their adventurous side and develop skills and movement while challenging both mind and body.
- Camps for ages 12 and up: Focusing on leadership and sport development, allowing participants to build on their abilities through recreation programming or Junior Bisons sport-specific camps.
Inclusion and Support
Mini U is dedicated to creating environments where every child thrives. The program offers:
- Inclusion and support for children with high-support needs through a specialized pilot project.
- One-on-one support in mainstream camps.
Additional Services
- Busing: Providing a safe ride to and from campus each day, with Mini U leaders greeting families at pick-up and drop-off spots around the city.
- Junior Bisons: Offering young athletes advanced levels of skill development through competitive club teams, high-performance programs, and summer camps.

Accreditation
Mini U is affiliated with the Manitoba Camping Association, which develops and maintains standards for organized camping in Manitoba. The association helps the general public identify safe, healthy, and well-run camps.
