Program Overview


Introduction to the Small Ruminant Farming Course

The Small Ruminant Farming Course was held at the Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre, Universiti Malaya (PPBGLUM) on October 23-24, 2024. This course involved 50 participants from the Jelebu Drug Rehabilitation Institution.


Course Objectives

The main objective of this course was to provide exposure and knowledge about small ruminant farming, including management, breeding, and animal health care.


Course Content

Over the two days of the course, participants received both practical and theoretical training on how to manage small ruminant farming effectively. They were also introduced to the latest technologies in small ruminant breeding, which can help improve the output and efficiency of their farming operations. Additionally, participants received education on the importance of maintaining animal health and practicing ethical livestock management.


Course Goals

This course aimed not only to provide skills in the field of farming but also to offer the participants an opportunity to acquire practical skills that can be used in their recovery after being in the rehabilitation institution. The program aimed to equip residents with skills that would enhance their lives upon leaving the institution, while also benefiting the local community in the long run.


Expected Outcomes

Through this course, participants are expected to apply the knowledge they gained in their daily lives and open opportunities for them to pursue a career in farming, thereby improving their own and their family's economic well-being.
