Introduction to the Bachelor of Nursing Science Program
The Bachelor of Nursing Science is a four-year program that prepares graduates for the contemporary role of applying medical and scientific nursing foundation knowledge in providing nursing care to patients. The program is offered by the Department of Nursing Science, Faculty of Medicine, and is designed to produce nursing graduates with in-depth knowledge in nursing and medical sciences.

Upon completion, graduates are expected to practice nursing critically and ethically by applying scientific nursing foundation in health care delivery settings. The program covers eight semesters and one special semester within four years and comprises three core sciences: Health Science, Behavioral Science, and Nursing Science.

Program Accreditation
The program was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education in 2010 and was accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) in 2015.
Teaching and Learning
The University has a large teaching hospital called the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), which provides students with ample opportunities to practice the art of Nursing in a safe and supervised environment. UMMC is adjacent and physically connected to the Faculty of Medicine, creating a large complex dedicated to teaching, learning, research, and health care.
