Program Overview

International Graduate Program (IGP) for the Graduate School of Life Science

The International Graduate Program (IGP) at the Graduate School of Life Science established a new international graduate program, the "Life Science Researcher Training Program for Solving Global Issues," in 2024. This program succeeds the "Training Program for Global Leaders/Innovators in Life Sciences," which operated from 2013 to 2024. Supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), it offers MEXT Scholarships under the IGP Special Quota — providing 3-year scholarship for five doctoral students and 2-year scholarship for three master students during their studies.

Program Overview

The IGP aims to form the world's most prestigious education and research center for the life sciences. It is based on networks and collaborations among top-level universities, primarily those in Asia, and recruits excellent international students interested in the life sciences. Both Japanese and international students study under the same curriculum to become leaders with a global perspective. From enrollment to graduation, English is the main language used throughout the program.
