Program Overview


S-cubic Program

The S-cubic program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education and career development opportunities. The program includes various seminars and workshops, such as the Career Management Seminar, Career Path Diversification Seminar, Advanced COSA, Advanced COLA, Akaiito-Kai, Individual career consultation, Internship, Company research site visit, EXEX Doctoral Fellowship Student Career Interview, and Other Programs.


Advanced COLA

Advanced COLA: Course of Liberal Arts Administration for Young Scholars in the Humanities and Social Sciences

The Advanced COLA program invites three business people who are active in the industry after graduating from a humanities or social science graduate school to talk about how the learning and education at a humanities or social science graduate school can be utilized in the industry. The program also includes a panel discussion to discuss social problem solving that only a humanities or social science doctorate can provide.


Lecture Contents

The lecturers will give a 45-minute lecture each on the following topics:


  • The potential of industry as a place for doctorates in humanities and social sciences
  • Why they chose the industrial sector and the events and thoughts that led them to that decision
  • Advice for Graduate Students in Humanities and Social Sciences

Eligible Participants

  • Graduate students affiliated with Hokkaido University (undergraduate students are also welcome to participate)

Credit Requirements

Comprehensive evaluation is based on attendance and reports. Students are required to take three or more of the following courses:
