Introduction

The Master's program in Metodi, Normativa e Tecniche per la Sicurezza convenzionale e non convenzionale - MENTS (Methods, Laws and Techniques for conventional and non-conventional Safety and Security) is a second-level Master's degree offered by the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" in conjunction with the Department of Firefighters, Public Rescue, and Civil Defense.

Objectives

The objective of the Master's program is to provide participants with training on conventional and non-conventional risk, prevention, and safety aspects. Lessons will be given on the roles and competencies of experts working in high-risk and/or emergency situations, focusing on best practices used at the national level with some case studies and lessons learned at the international level of interest for the training of participants. Additionally, aspects of prevention, intervention, investigation, and restoration of normality related to fires, water emergencies, hydrogeological, geological, and non-conventional emergencies of intentional and non-intentional matrix will be deepened. Technical interventions necessary to safeguard the safety of people and the integrity of goods will be provided, ensuring rescue not only in the event of fires but also in all emergency situations such as sudden or threatening structural collapses, landslides, floods, or other public calamities. Students will learn to use the main hardware and software tools to facilitate the above.


Admission Requirements

  • The Master's program is aimed at those who possess a Specialist/Master's degree or an old system degree.
  • Enrollment of non-EU foreign students resident in Italy with a regular residence permit for work or study reasons is allowed.
  • The enrollment of non-EU foreign students resident abroad is regulated by current laws.
  • The degree title obtained abroad must be accompanied by a CIMEA certificate.
  • The access title must be possessed at the time of enrollment, before the start of the training activities.
  • Auditors are allowed to attend the Master's program.
  • Attendance of individual teachings is allowed.
