Program Overview

Dottorato in ECONOMIA E FINANZA

The Dottorato in ECONOMIA E FINANZA is a doctoral program offered by the DIPARTIMENTO DI ECONOMIA e FINANZA.

Program Overview

The program provides comprehensive instruction in Metodi Matematici, Econometria, Microeconomia, Macroeconomia, and Finanza, totaling 300 hours (60 credits) in the first academic year. Attendance at main courses is mandatory, but students can request exemption from any course with a valid justification, provided they meet the 240-hour course requirement (equivalent to 40 credits) during the academic year.

Courses

  • First-Year Courses: The program offers a range of courses, including Metodi Matematici, Econometria, Microeconomia, Macroeconomia, and Finanza. Additional optional courses in Matematica and Statistica are available for students who need to strengthen their foundational knowledge (no credits are assigned to these additional courses).
  • Second-Year Courses: Students are required to enroll in elective courses for at least 120 hours (equivalent to 20 credits). These elective courses must be completed by the end of the second academic year or, with a valid justification, no later than the end of the third year. Students can also earn credits through participation in reading groups. Some elective courses can be attended at both EIEF and LUISS.
  • Courses by Visiting Professors: Visiting professors bring their expertise to the doctoral program, offering short courses and mentoring. Their diverse backgrounds inspire students and encourage collaboration, leaving a lasting impact on research and academic connections.
  • Reading Groups: All doctoral students from the second to the fourth year are required to enroll in and actively participate in at least one reading group. Active involvement in reading groups increases research engagement and strengthens bonds with faculty and among doctoral students.

Program Requirements

Students are required to present a proposed study plan by mid-March of their first year. The program includes a range of activities, such as attending courses, participating in reading groups, and completing a dissertation, all designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in economics and finance.
