Description and Educational Objectives
The course provides students with detailed training on prevention in environmental and workplace hygiene. It covers fundamental notions related to prevention in environmental and workplace hygiene, methods of sampling different environmental matrices, and the evaluation of main parameters and environmental pollutants. The program also includes basic notions and methodologies of descriptive and inferential statistics and computer science, the study of cause-and-effect dynamics of chemical, physical, and biological pollution, prevention strategies, and quantitative tools of epidemiology, as well as legal norms in environmental hygiene and safety.
Professional Outcomes
The graduate acquires the competencies to carry out surveillance and inspection activities in living and working environments. The training is completed with the ability to interact and collaborate with interprofessional teams, staff training, continuous updating, and knowledge of the English language. Particular emphasis is placed on practical training and clinical internship activities, carried out under the supervision and guidance of specifically assigned professional tutors, coordinated by a teacher belonging to the highest formative level.

The course enables the profession of Technical Prevention in the Environment and Workplace. Graduates can apply their training with roles of responsibility in prevention, verification, and control activities in environmental hygiene and safety in living and working places, food and beverage hygiene, public health and veterinary hygiene. They carry out instructive activities aimed at issuing technical-sanitary authorizations or permits for controlled activities; they instruct, determine, contest, and notify irregularities found and formulate opinions within their competence.

These functions apply relatively to:
- Injuries and occupational diseases
- Compliance of structures and environments in relation to the activities connected to them and the safety conditions of the plants
- Quality of food and beverages intended for consumption (with evaluation of any subsequent specialized investigations)
- Veterinary hygiene and health
- Cosmetic products
- Investigations into crimes against the environmental heritage, in collaboration with the judicial authority
Occupational Condition
Graduates carry out their professional activity, in a dependent or freelance regime, within the national health service, in all prevention, control, and surveillance services provided for by current legislation.
