Objectives
The primary objective of this master's program is to train professionals with integrated knowledge of the skin district (including skin, skin appendages, and visible mucous membranes), cosmetic products, and optimal nutrition aimed at optimizing health status or preventing skin-related diseases associated with diet. The program is designed for medical doctors, chemists, pharmacists, biologists, and nurses to enhance their professional competence in the field of cosmetology.
Program Content
The master's program will provide comprehensive information on:
- The physiopathological aspects of the skin, the biochemical mechanisms that support them, and the formulation and functional aspects of different categories of cosmetic products.
- Methods for evaluating the efficacy and toxicity of cosmetic products in vivo and in vitro, also in relation to European legislative norms.
- Functional foods and nutraceuticals present in them.
- Dietary supplements.
- Regulatory aspects concerning health claims and the marketing of functional foods and supplements, with particular reference to the evolving European situation.

The cultural experience gained during the master's program will lead to the formation of a professional figure particularly suited to insertion in companies producing cosmetics, Dermatological Cosmetics Centers, Pharmacies, Centers or Companies specialized in safety and efficacy tests of finished products.

The suitability of first or second-level degrees or old system degrees in other disciplines is determined by the Master's teaching staff. The equivalence, for the sole purpose of enrolling in the Master's program, of foreign study titles will be decided by the Faculty Board upon proposal by the Master's teaching staff. The foreign study title must be accompanied by an official translation into Italian, legalization, and a declaration of value by the Italian diplomatic representations in the country where the title was obtained.
Incompatibility
Enrollment in the Master's program is incompatible with simultaneous enrollment in other university courses.
