Program Overview


Introduction to the Summer School of Agrosystems Modeling and Agrometeorology 2023

The Summer School of Agrosystems Modeling and Agrometeorology 2023 is an academic conference aimed at broadening the knowledge of young scientists and researchers, enhancing the application of agricultural system models, and fostering high-level talent in related fields. The conference will provide a platform for academic exchange and discussion, promoting cooperation and knowledge sharing.

The conference theme focuses on agricultural system modeling and multidisciplinary intersections. The reports will cover topics such as agricultural system models, crop-soil-weather-management process simulations, agricultural meteorology, climate change impacts, agricultural big data, AI models, and application techniques.

The conference will adopt a format of expert reports, case introductions, and discussion interactions, utilizing online Tencent network meetings.

Conference Organization

The conference is organized by the System Simulation and Software Technology Laboratory (SMST Lab.) and the High-Level Innovation Team for Climate Change Impact and Adaptation, College of Resources and Environment, China Agricultural University.


Expert Introductions

Gerrit Hoogenboom

Professor at the University of Florida, with over 30 years of experience in developing DSSAT. His research focuses on applications ranging from freeze hazard prediction to climate variability and change, water resource management, biofuels, economic and environmental sustainability, and food nutrition security.


Ma Yuntao

Professor at China Agricultural University, director of the Digital Agriculture Innovation Research Center, and chief scientist of the Agricultural Artificial Intelligence and Crop Phenotype Inner Mongolia Engineering Research Center.


Feng Liping

Professor at China Agricultural University, deputy director of the Agricultural Meteorology and Climate Change Committee, and researcher at the AgMIP project.


Zhang Yumei

Professor at China Agricultural University, specializing in agricultural policy, agricultural food system transformation, and rural development, with expertise in general equilibrium models (CGE) and local equilibrium models.


Ma Zhen

Senior project manager at Shenzhen DJI Innovation Technology Co., Ltd., with years of experience in promoting UAVs in agriculture.


Wang Shaohua

Innovative researcher at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, focusing on spatiotemporal big data analysis, spatial optimization, geospatial intelligence, and social remote sensing geography computation.


Tao Feng

Postdoctoral researcher at Cornell University, with a research focus on global soil carbon cycling and the development of the "PRODA" method.


Chen Xianguan

Doctor and lecturer at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, with research directions in crop models and climate change, and developer of the SM series crop models and WMAIP platform.


Laboratory Introduction

The System Simulation and Software Technology Laboratory (SMST Lab.) at China Agricultural University is dedicated to the development and application of agricultural system simulation models, focusing on self-developed models and tools, such as the SM series models and AgroStudio system. The laboratory welcomes applications for master's and doctoral research students and invites interested domestic and international doctoral and postdoctoral researchers to join.
