International Summer School for Efficient Use of Agricultural Water Resources

The International Summer School for Efficient Use of Agricultural Water Resources is a 15-day program organized by the College of Water Resources and Civil Engineering, China Agricultural University, in collaboration with the International Office, China Agricultural University, China-Africa Joint Center for Arid Region Agriculture Exchange, Demonstration and Training (Shiyang River), National Field Scientific Observation and Research Station on Efficient Water Use of Oasis Agriculture in Wuwei of Gansu Province, and State Key Laboratory of Efficient Utilization of Agricultural Water Resources, Beijing, China.

Background

The program is a response to the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, aiming to deepen agricultural cooperation and broaden various cooperation fields between China and the Belt and Road countries. The program includes course learning, campus activities, and a field trip, providing a platform for international students to learn about efficient use of agricultural water resources and experience Chinese culture.

Why Join?

Food security is closely linked to water security, as food production heavily depends on freshwater availability worldwide. Climate change, population increase, water resources scarcity, and water quality deterioration pose significant challenges to food production and threaten water and food security globally. The program focuses on improving agricultural water productivity through integrated measures, including intelligent use of agricultural water resources and hydrological modeling.

Program Details

• Course Learning: Students will learn about intelligent use of agricultural water resources and acquire skills in hydrological modeling.
• Campus Activities: Students will attend diversified cultural activities and visit the State Key Laboratory of Efficient Utilization of Agricultural Water Resources.
• Field Trip: Students will visit the Experimental Station (National Field Scientific Observation and Research Station on Efficient Water Use of Oasis Agriculture in Wuwei of Gansu Province) to learn about advanced agricultural water-saving technology and tour the Gulang ecological environment protection area to experience the ecological benefits of agricultural water-saving technology.

  • Certificate of No Criminal Record (Non-criminal Record Affirmation)
  • Registration fee: RMB 400 (non-refundable)
• Review and Admission: Application materials will be reviewed by the International Office, CAU, and relevant professors, and qualified applicants will be admitted.

Tuition and Fees

• Application Fee: RMB 400 (non-refundable)
• Tuition: Free during the summer school
• Premium: Unified purchase by the school
• Accommodation: Unified provision by the school (two students/room)
• United Transportation: Unified provision by the school
• Living Expenses: The school will provide RMB 1500 per person as living expenses in China during the summer school.

Notes

• The school does not provide round-trip airfare and visa application fees to China.
• Successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible.
