Training center for participating musicians
Program Overview
Introduction to the Centre de Formation de Musiciens Intervenants (CFMI)
The Centre de Formation de Musiciens Intervenants (CFMI) at Aix-Marseille University offers a higher professional education to musicians who already possess a solid artistic foundation. This two-year university and professional training program consists of 1500 hours and is validated by the Diplôme Universitaire des Musiciens Intervenants (DUMI), allowing access to the Assistant Spécialisé d'Enseignement Artistique (ASEA) position in the Territorial Public Service.
Program Description
The mission of the CFMI is to provide a comprehensive education that enables musicians to establish a privileged link between the school environment (elementary and pre-elementary schools) and the cultural and artistic context of a territory (diffusion structures, festivals, hospitals, prisons, etc.). This is achieved through the implementation of medium- or long-term musical projects that the musicians are capable of designing and leading in a spirit of open and structured partnership.
Competences and Knowledge
The program aims to acquire diverse competences, both in the musical domain (direction of vocal and instrumental ensembles, interpretation, creation, accompaniment, and arrangement techniques, broadened musical culture, etc.) and in pedagogy (conception and implementation of projects). It also implies a thorough understanding of the educational environment and reflection on the conditions of exercising this profession.
