Description
The Master STAPS: Entraînement et Optimisation de la Performance Sportive is a program offered by the University of Toulon, in co-accreditation with Aix-Marseille University. The program aims to train students in the use of technological tools for scientific and technical expertise in the field of sports performance and training.
Objectives
The objective of the Master STAPS is to provide students with a triple competence: scientific, professional, and sports-related, enabling them to design, manage, and expertly oversee training programs for optimizing sports performance and re-athletization.

The program is designed for students holding a license in STAPS, as well as professionals in training who wish to complete their education or validate their experience.
Conditions d'Admission
- Master 1: Registration is done through the Mon Master platform.
- Master 2: Submission of a application dossier.
Prérequis Obligatoires
- Be or have been involved in sports practice or coaching.
- Acquire basic knowledge related to physical exercise in terms of physiology, biomechanics, and psychology.
- Obtain a STAPS license.
Prérequis Recommandés
- Holder of a STAPS license in sports training.
- Holder of a BPJEPS or DEJEPS.
- Holder of a DU or DESU related to physical activity and performance.
Structure and Organisation
The Master STAPS program is organized around disciplinary teachings, acquisition of transversal skills, and pre-professionalization skills. Some teachings are duplicated in Toulon and Marseille, while others are shared on one of the two sites.

Connaissances à Acquérir
The knowledge targeted will focus on physiological parameters specific to performance, as well as biomechanical and psychological knowledge that impacts performance. Knowledge related to the management of a group of athletes will also be addressed.
Compétences à Acquérir
The teachings aim to acquire the following skills:
- Evaluation and measurement of athletes' physical and mental abilities.
- Planning of training and physical preparation for performance optimization.
- Study of different training methods specific to the development of each physical quality.
- Identification of sports pathologies and specific methodology for retraining.
- Study of group management in training and competition situations, as well as communication with different sports structure interlocutors.
- Major rules of nutrition to adopt to optimize performance and minimize injury risks.
- Planning of sessions adapting programs to practitioners and APS.
- Mastery of new technologies developed to measure performance.
Stages et Projets Encadrés
In the 2nd year of the Master's program, students must complete a 4-month internship in a professional environment. The internship takes place during the second semester, where the student must apply the skills acquired during their training, with more responsibilities and autonomy.

Teachings are either theoretical or practical (mastery of different exercises and effort tests).
Enseignements Délocalisés
Marseille students follow common teachings either on the Luminy site or in Toulon. Generally, these teachings are dispensed 50% in Marseille by Marseille interveners and 50% by Toulon teachers in Toulon.

International mobility possibilities are offered through the Erasmus + program (studies - internships) and international partnership agreements of the University of Toulon. Teaching of a living language is provided each semester. A language resource center is available to students with free access to digital and multimedia tools (international press, training for CLES, TOEIC, or TOEFL certifications) and language conversation sessions.
