Program Overview
Introduction to the Diploma in Nursing
The training that prepares for the profession of nurse is provided in partnership between the nursing training institutes (IFSI) and the Faculty of Medical and Paramedical Sciences of Aix-Marseille University.
The Nursing Profession
Nurses intervene autonomously and as part of multiprofessional teams, in collaboration and under the responsibility of a doctor. They evaluate the health needs of individuals to define care projects (of a preventive, curative, or palliative nature), coordinate the interventions of caregivers, implement treatments, and provide daily accompaniment.
Professional Perspectives
Nurses work at home and in structures (hospitals, public health organizations, schools, companies, prisons).

The training is provided by the nursing training institutes (IFSI) in partnership with the Faculty of Medical and Paramedical Sciences.

Organization of Studies
The training for the State Diploma in Nursing takes place over 3 years (6 semesters and 180 ECTS) at the license level (bac +3).
- At the end of the 3rd year, the organization of knowledge and skills assessment exams is the responsibility of the IFSI (continuous monitoring, final exam, or a combination of these two control modes).
Teaching and Internships
- Theoretical teachings represent 2100 hours (750 hours of lectures, 1050 hours of directed work, 300 hours of guided personal work).
- Clinical and situational teachings represent 2100 hours in the form of internships.
- Additional personal work is also estimated at 900 hours.
