Program Overview


Master Economie du Droit

The Master Economie du Droit is an interdisciplinary program that aims to provide students with a dual competence in law and economics. This program is designed to address the increasing interaction between these two disciplines in the economic world, including business, affairs, economic policy, and regulation, as well as in legal expertise and research.


Objectifs

The objective of the Master Economie du Droit is to offer an interdisciplinary training that enables students to acquire a double competence in law and economics. The program allows for specialization through three tracks: Business, Law and Economics, Distribution, Concurrence, and Droit Èconomique.


Public VisÈ

This program is intended for:


  • Students who wish to enrich their initial course (law or economics) by discovering a neighboring discipline.
  • Students who have followed a double course at the license level and will find a natural extension of their first cycle.
  • Students aiming for a third cycle of study.
  • Those who intend to pursue a career requiring more than technical knowledge.

Conditions d'Admission

Admission to the M1 requires a license in law or economics-management or an equivalent diploma, as well as validation of prior experience (VAE).


Structure et Organisation

The M1 is a common core for all tracks of the program and is designed to be accessible to students from economics, management, or law licenses. It allows for direct access to the three tracks of the program and the possibility to apply for an M2 Erasmus Mundus. The Business Law and Economics track welcomes students from the Erasmus Mundus consortium in the fourth semester.


Connaissances ‡ AcquÈrir

For all programs, students will acquire:


  • Knowledge of the main tools of economic analysis (microeconomics, game theory, behavioral analysis, econometrics, statistics).
  • Economic analysis of market dynamics (innovation, use of new technologies, platforms, public-private partnerships, banking, and financial markets).
  • Knowledge of the areas of law related to the business world (collective procedures, industrial, literary, and artistic property, taxation, business contracts, banking, and finance).

Specific knowledge for each program:


  • "Business, Law and Economics" (BLE): in-depth study of the tools of economic analysis of law and regulation, with an emphasis on recent applications and their implementation (public and private law).
  • "Droit Èconomique" (DE): company law, contract law (including international contracts), competition law, liability, and arbitration.
  • "Distribution Concurrence" (DC): distribution law, distribution contract techniques, economic environment, and media of distribution, franchise.

CompÈtences ‡ AcquÈrir

Students must be able to:


  • Understand recent market dynamics, business law, and regulation.
  • Synthesize literature and propose an original analysis of a concrete problem.
  • Work in a group and become familiar with team work.
  • Master legal and economic English.
  • Master the use of different digital supports (word, excel, power-point).
  • (BLE) Evaluate public policies (impact studies).
  • (BLE) Apply economic analysis to various areas of law and regulation.
  • (DE and DC): Analyze a situation and qualify it legally.
  • (DE and DC): Research relevant information and update it as needed.
  • (DE and DC): Have a dialectical vision of the analyzed situation to understand the position of the partner or adversary.
  • (DE and DC): Imagine solutions when the question is new.

Stages et Projets EncadrÈs

Students have the opportunity to do an internship from the Master 1 to put them in contact with the professional world and allow them to choose their track in better knowledge of the cause. A longer internship (3 months) is also required in the Distribution Concurrence track.

The program leads to various professional outlets, including:


  • Conception and management of public policy.
  • Legal defense and counsel in companies and professional organizations.
  • Legal collaboration, lawyer.
  • Higher education teaching.
  • Management of small and medium-sized enterprises.

For the "Business, Law and Economics" track: economic consulting and expertise for private and public companies, teacher-researcher. For the "Droit Èconomique" track: academic career and lawyers. For the "Droit Concurrence" track: legal expert in distribution, consumer associations, supervisory administrations.


Poursuites d'…tudes

The "Business, Law and Economics" and "Droit Èconomique" programs provide training in research and require the writing of a thesis with significant weight in the student's overall evaluation. The developed capacities are appreciated in the business world and in many institutions. They also prepare for doctoral studies in the fields of economics, law, or in an international "Law and Economics" doctorate.


Partenariats

The program benefits from an academic partnership (Erasmus + consortium) with law departments from universities in Hamburg, Rotterdam, Gent, Haifa, Vienna, and Pompeu Fabra, and economics departments from the Warsaw School of Economics, the Indira Gandhi Institute for Economic Research and Development (Mumbai), and LUMSA (Rome). Teaching by professionals is highly developed in the Distribution Concurrence tracks. The program has links with about fifty partners from the economic and legal world. An internship is possible in M1 and also in M2-Distribution, Concurrence.


Aide ‡ l'Orientation

The M1, being a common core and making a strong place for the teaching of the fundamentals of economic analysis and legal analysis, allows the student to refine their project throughout the M1 to direct themselves towards one of the program's tracks. Students are also encouraged to participate in coaching sessions organized by the UFR Economie-Gestion and the numerous seminars of the Institut du droit des affaires involving professionals.

The program benefits from a network of important socio-economic partners as well as numerous institutional partnerships. The student is specifically prepared to integrate easily into an international work environment. The proximity of research centers can also facilitate integration into the world of research and expertise.

The Business, Law and Economics track is integrated into an Erasmus Mundus + labeled consortium. About twenty foreign students join the program in the fourth semester, and all teachings are in English. In the other tracks, many teachings are in English (technology transfer, international commercial arbitration).
