Program Overview
Introduction to the License Sciences for Engineering Program
The License Sciences for Engineering program, with a focus on Mechanical Engineering, is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems and technologies. After completing the first year in the scientific portal Marie Curie and the last two years of the license for engineering in the Mechanical Engineering (IM) track, graduates will have acquired methods and tools to analyze and validate mechanical solutions in the design of multi-technological systems.
Objectives
The program aims to enable students to:
- Analyze and validate mechanical solutions in the design of multi-technological systems
- Use computer-aided design tools to analyze systems and make simple modifications according to a specification
- Produce technical notices to justify their results
- Develop their analytical, disciplinary appropriation, and group work capacities through the formation and type of teaching
Prerequisites
- Obligatory Prerequisites: Entry into the L3 – "parcours IM" of the License SPI requires a level of type "bac +2 scientific" oriented towards engineering sciences in the mechanical engineering domain.
- Recommended Prerequisites: Level bac+2 in engineering sciences in the mechanical engineering domain or equivalent.
Formation and Research
- Discovery of research laboratory activities through teacher-researcher seminars
- Visits to laboratory activities on campus
- Possibility of internships during the curriculum within research laboratories LMA, LAM
- Implementation of Fablab equipment
Knowledge and Skills to Acquire
- Analyze and validate mechanical solutions in the design of multi-technological systems, in connection with materials and automation specialists
- Develop a systematic and rigorous scientific approach to implement an adapted solution in response to a problem related to a multi-technological system
- Expose or write, in a structured, synthetic, clear, and rigorous manner, a critical argument from a scientific document or technical documentation, in French or English at an intermediate level
- Elaborate and implement an individual or collective project related to engineering sciences, based on project management methodologies favoring the restitution and sharing of produced results
Stages and Supervised Projects
- Projects in APP and design offices give rise to oral and written evaluations for modules in S5 and S6.
- A stage of at least 4 weeks is strongly recommended in the license, which can take place in a company or academic laboratory. It will be motivated in PPPE sessions.
Pedagogical Modalities
- The pedagogy in the IM track is based on lectures and directed work sessions.
- Design office and practical work sessions complement the training.
- 20% of the teaching is done in active pedagogy through problem-based learning, favoring both autonomy and group work.
Targeted Professions
- H1203 Conception and design of mechanical products
- H1206 Management and engineering studies, research, and industrial development
- H1210 Technical intervention in studies, research, and development
- H1404 Technical intervention in methods and industrialization
NSF Domains
- 115F Applied physics to industrial processes; physics of materials; physical measurements applied to industrial control; physical sciences for engineers
- 250N Pluritechnological specialties (design)
- 251M Studies, projects, design in mechanical construction

- Admission by right following the L2 SPI of AMU, or on a application file following other studies.
Registration Regimes
- This track is accessible in:
- Initial training
- Continuing education

Testimonials
- Emilie OLIVARES - Promotion: Having always been attracted to mechanics, my two years in the license SPI allowed me to gain confidence and have solid knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering. Thanks to the lectures and numerous group work, I acquired analysis and teamwork capabilities, which are fundamental in the engineering profession. Next year, I will enter an engineering school with the goal of becoming a mechanical engineer.
