Introduction to the Certificat de Qualification Professionnelle Opticien spécialisé

The Certificat de Qualification Professionnelle Opticien spécialisé is a professional certification program designed for individuals in the optician profession. This program is created by professionals in the field of opticianry for professionals, aiming to provide advanced skills and knowledge in health vision, technical, and commercial aspects of the profession.


Objectives

The primary objectives of this program are to:


  • Provide individuals with a Bac+2 degree with professional skills adapted to the evolution of their work environment in health vision and associated technical and commercial competencies.
  • Offer young professionals, after completing a BTS (Brevet de Technicien Supérieur), complementary and in-depth skills in all tasks assigned to an optician, whether in health, technical, or commercial activities.
  • Facilitate access to employment and enable faster hierarchical progression.
  • Allow salaried professionals to perfect their skills in health vision and all dimensions of the optician profession, develop their professional expertise, fulfill their Continuing Professional Development obligation, acquire new skills to adapt to job evolutions, and secure their professional career path.

Organization of Studies

The program consists of 487 hours of training over an academic year. It is structured around a training program with 4 mandatory modules and 4 optional modules, chosen from 2 domains.


Mandatory Modules

  • Module 1: Réfraction complexe (120 hours) - To perfect knowledge on refraction and project into complex vision exams, considering all components of vision.
  • Module 2: Contactologie simple (lentilles souples) (90 hours) - To adapt soft contact lenses with frequent renewal and deliver appropriate advice to each client wearing contact lenses.
  • Module 3: Relation client (60 hours) - To project into a more professional client relationship, from discovering their needs to anticipating and managing difficult cases.
  • Module 4: Réglementation (40 hours) - To master the regulation applying to the optician profession.

Optional Modules

  • Basse vision (21 hours) - To project into low vision, a vector of professionalism, differentiation, and additional sales.
  • Vision de l'enfant (21 hours) - To become an unavoidable professional for children: from prevention to interaction in the chain of the 3 "O"s.
  • Vision de personne âgée (21 hours) - To become an actor in visual prevention for seniors and adapt the exercise to their specificities.
  • Contactologie évoluée (60 hours) - To position oneself as a true specialist in contactology by mastering the adaptation of traditional and rigid lenses.
  • Prévention santé (60 hours) - To be an actor in visual prevention and perfect the orientation of clients in care pathways.
  • Conseil/gestion opérationnelle (60 hours) - To reinforce commercial expertise at the point of sale, perfect sales techniques to better advise clients.

Competencies

Based on the National Collective Agreement of Optics-Retail Optics, the definition of an Optician Actor in health vision is an optician possessing in-depth training in health vision, scientific, technical, commercial, and regulatory competencies validated by a CQP Opticien spécialisé. This professional exercises functions implying knowledge of all tasks assigned to the optician profession.


Profile of Candidates

The CQP is addressed exclusively to individuals holding one of the titles or diplomas allowing the legal exercise of the optician-lunetier profession. It is particularly aimed at:


  • Young people under a professionalization contract.
  • Salaried professionals within the framework of the competence development plan, the Personal Training Account (CPF), or the CPF for professional transition.

Candidature

For young graduates wishing to complete their training, it is necessary to register with an authorized training center and find an employer who will formalize a professionalization contract. For professionals already in practice, this training can be deployed according to the modalities in force in each of the following devices: professionalization period, Personal Training Account (CPF), Individual Training Leave (CIF). The financing of the training is taken care of within the framework of the branch's training funds (FORCO). The salary is paid by the employer.


The selection of applications is done on a file and individual interview basis.
