Program Overview


Master STAPS: Management du Sport

The Master STAPS: Management du Sport is a 120-credit program designed to prepare students for management and development roles in public and private sports organizations.


Objectives

This program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to occupy management positions in the sports industry. It focuses on individualized coaching, professional behavior, and competence development to render students autonomous, operational, and lucid in their future professional contexts.

The program is taught at the FSS, Marseille.


Registration Regimes

This program is accessible in both initial training (FI) and continuing education (FC) regimes.


Knowledge to be Acquired

Students will gain knowledge in the culture and strategies of sports organizations, as well as specific economic and management fields. The program prepares students for roles in management, project development, auditing, business strategy, communication, and marketing within the sports sector.


Skills to be Acquired

The program prepares students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for management and development roles in sports organizations. It also prepares students for research and teaching positions in higher education and research institutions related to sports management.

Program Structure

The program consists of two years, each with two semesters.


Year 1

  • Semester 1:
    • ANALYSER (90h): Analyzing strategic sports management, including units on sports law, sports marketing, and sports media.
    • CONCEVOIR (80h): Designing and undertaking projects, including units on financial analysis, sports economics, and innovation strategies.
    • METTRE EN UVRE (35h): Implementing projects, including units on research methodologies and professional skills.
  • Semester 2:
    • ANALYSER (50h): Further analysis of strategic sports management, including units on infrastructure development, sports governance, and environmental impact.
    • CONCEVOIR (99h): Advanced designing and undertaking of projects, including units on entrepreneurship, digital communication, and sports event management.
    • METTRE EN UVRE (42h): Implementing projects with a focus on professional skills, research methodologies, and innovation.

Year 2

  • Semester 3:
    • ANALYSER (65h): In-depth analysis of strategic sports management, including units on marketing strategies, event management, and governance.
    • CONCEVOIR (122h): Advanced design and undertaking of projects, including units on business planning, leadership, and digital innovation.
    • METTRE EN UVRE (55h): Implementing projects with a focus on research methodologies, professional skills, and innovation.
  • Semester 4:
    • ANALYSER and CONCEVOIR (85h): Combined analysis and design of projects, including units on stadium and arena management, professional sports, and media communication.
    • METTRE EN UVRE (32h): Implementing projects with a focus on professional skills, research methodologies, and stage or alternation.
