Master's Degree in Immunology
The Master's degree in Immunology is a specialized training program that aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of immunology, preparing them for careers in scientific research, academia, or industry.
Description
The program is designed to offer a varied teaching approach, including the participation of researchers from major laboratories in Marseille, an opening onto clinical immunology and the health sector, a partnership with the POLYTECH engineering school, and the contribution of local companies in biotechnology, diagnostics, and biopharmacy.
Aims
The objective of the program is to prepare students for a career in fundamental and applied immunology, enabling them to better understand, predict, and manipulate the immune system. The program also aims to provide students with a solid grounding in cell biology, molecular genetics, and biochemistry.
Targeted Students
The program is open to holders of at least a Licence 3 SV or equivalent professional experience. Holders of an M1 or M2 degree may be admitted by application. The program also welcomes students from the POLYTECH engineering school and doctors/pharmacists who have taken theoretical courses in molecular and cellular immunology.
Admission Conditions
Admission to the program is by selection on file, and an interview may be requested. M1 applications are made via the "MonMaster" platform, while M2 students are recruited via the "e-candidat" platform. Foreign students applying for an incoming Master's degree must apply via the "Etudes en France" platform.
Fundamental Prerequisites
The program recruits holders of a Bachelor's degree with honors who have completed basic immunology courses in L3, with a solid grounding in cell biology, molecular genetics, and biochemistry. It is also open to doctors/pharmacists wishing to specialize in immuno-intervention.
Structure and Organisation
The program proposes only one course, aiming to bring future professionals of scientific research towards the doctorate and preparing young graduates in immunotechnology operating for public laboratories or companies of the diagnosis and pharmacy. Teaching in M1 is in French, while teaching in M2 is in English.
Learning Sites
The program is based at the Marseille-Luminy Immunology Center (CIML), with teaching carried out at the POLYTECH engineering school and other associated laboratories.
Knowledge to be Acquired
The program teaches the fundamental bases of immunology at the cellular and molecular levels, and the dynamics of the immune system in physiological responses and in infectious and pathological situations.
Professional Skills to be Acquired
The program aims to provide students with the ability to analyze, understand, and manipulate the immune system using knowledge of molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, and pathophysiology. Students will also learn to produce a reasoned and quantitative scientific approach to answer a scientific question and propose a reasoned and quantitative experimental scientific procedure.
Internships and Supervised Projects
The program offers a strong practical training component, with students working individually or in groups on applied or bibliographical tutored projects in universities, laboratories, companies, or hospitals.
Specific Teaching Conditions
The program provides students with a professional environment, both in fundamental research and in academic technical platforms, and biotechnology companies in the field of diagnosis or pharmaceutical industry.
Offsite Teaching
Teaching is done on several AMU sites of the UFR science and health and associated laboratories, as well as at the POLYTECH engineering school.

The program has a high professional integration rate, with graduates going on to work in various fields, including research, industry, and academia.
