Program Overview
The DFGSM2 program is a two-year diploma in general medical sciences, with a focus on computer science and medical information processing. The program aims to provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to use information and communication technologies (ICTs) in their future medical careers.
Objectives
The program's objectives are to:
- Deliver theoretical and practical notions to acquire the essential bases for using ICTs in medical activities
- Enable students to use a microcomputer and office software, including an electronic work environment, document management, text processing, spreadsheet calculations, email, and presentation preparation
Organization
The program consists of 10 two-hour sessions, with a group size of approximately 30 students. The teaching staff includes instructors from the SESSTIM and tutors. The sessions comprise:
- Presentations of theoretical concepts
- Practical exercises to apply ICT usage

- Introduction to the electronic work environment (ENT)
- Basic knowledge, exchange, and communication
- Information research (1 and 2)
- Creating printed documents (text processing) (1 and 2)
- Basic spreadsheet functions
