Postgraduate Diploma - Quantitative and Econometric Methods in Health
Program Overview
Introduction to the Diplôme d'Etudes Supérieures Universitaires - Méthodes Quantitatives et Econométriques en Santé (DESU MQES)
The analysis of medical information, with its increasing complexity, requires high-level skills and expertise in methodology. This training is essentially devoted to quantitative methods (biostatistical modeling, economic modeling, econometrics, health economics). Intended for health students and professionals, it aims to acquire in-depth knowledge of methods, techniques, their implementation in practice, and applications in health economics.
Objectives
The objective of the DESU MQES is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of quantitative methods and econometrics in health research. This includes the analysis of medical information, biostatistical modeling, economic modeling, and health economics.
Conditions of Admission
Students who have validated a Master's degree in public health or economics are eligible for admission.
Pedagogical Organization
The pedagogical organization of the DESU MQES is overseen by Professor Roch Giorgi. The teaching can be followed entirely online via video conferencing. The theoretical teaching takes place over a little more than 120 hours, divided into about 80 hours of theoretical teaching and about 40 hours of practical work and personal work.
Program
The training is divided into 6 Teaching Units:
- UE ECO-EVCG: Cost-benefit analysis and calculations applied to health evaluation: general framework
- UE ECO-EVMA: Cost-benefit analysis and calculations applied to health evaluation: advanced methods
- UE STA-MLTL: Multivariate analysis methods for uncensored data
- UE STA-MLTC: Multivariate analysis methods for censored data
- UE ECO-AVQL: Advanced econometrics for qualitative and limited health data
- UE ECO-AVCD: Advanced econometrics for count and duration health data
Control of Knowledge
The evaluation of each Teaching Unit is done according to specific modalities (written exam, writing and oral presentation of a memoir, homework to be returned/performed within the given deadlines). Specific coefficients are associated with the continuous control of knowledge and the terminal exam.
Location of Teaching
All courses can be followed live by video conference. They can also be followed in person in one of the computer rooms of the Faculty of Medical and Paramedical Sciences of Marseille.
Maximum Number of Students
The number of students who can enroll in the DESU MQES is limited to 10.
Partnership
This course is offered by the Institute of Public Health Sciences of Aix-Marseille (ISSPAM).
