Master Cinéma et Audiovisuel, Parcours: Ecritures documentaires: recherche et création

This training in the design and realization of a documentary film project follows the chronological stages of production: subject study, project writing, production, shooting, editing, and projection. The main pedagogical axis is the training of the author/director, allowing students to consider all the professions related to the field of documentary cinema when they combine the technical and artistic skills of cinema and audiovisual with the unique ability to constantly question the film object being made.

Pédagogie

PRÉREQUIS OBLIGATOIRES

• Niveau bac+3, licence cinéma et arts du spectacle, for other licenses in human and social sciences, the student must have validated UE in the field of cinema and audiovisual or have done an internship in this sector of activity.

PRÉREQUIS RECOMMANDÉS

• The student must have validated UE in the field of cinema and audiovisual or have done an internship in this sector of activity.
• A good mastery of the French language is recommended.

FORMATION ET RECHERCHE

• Researchers from the two laboratories lead seminars within the training.
• Students participate in scientific events organized by the laboratories.

COMPÉTENCES Ŕ ACQUÉRIR

• Construct the staging of a documentary film, make realization choices, image and sound at shooting and editing.
• Master, from writing to distribution, the production chain of a film.
• Implement and exploit the necessary tools for the realization of the image/sound of a film.
• Research funding by situating your film in a production context, communicate with selection committees, and negotiate with producers.
• Conceptualize and communicate your approach, write presentation texts for your film.
• Analyze a professional environment and transpose knowledge (methodological, technical, aesthetic, critical) in the fields of cinema and audiovisual to design, produce, and/or participate in collective projects.

STAGES ET PROJETS ENCADRÉS

• Film projects are developed in the first and second semesters with the support of experienced professionals to be valued in the professional network of audiovisual and cinema.
• A short internship in the first semester allows the student to validate their professional project, then they must confirm it with a long internship in the second semester of a minimum duration of 3 months.

MODALITÉS PÉDAGOGIQUES PARTICULIČRES

• The training necessarily requires a face-to-face mode because the learning is largely linked to the manipulation of production tools (cameras, recorders, dedicated workstations...).
• Learning is done in teams, carried by a collective project organization and management.

Please note that the list of teachings is extensive and includes various courses and seminars focused on the history of cinema, language skills, theoretical and practical aspects of cinema and audiovisual, and specialized teachings in areas like diffusion, realization, and mediation.

CONDITIONS D'ADMISSION

• Inscriptions are made through a specific platform.
• Calendar of the procedure:
  • From March 1st to April 18th, 2023: Deposit of applications
  • April to June 2023: Examination of applications by institutions
  • From June 19th to July 17th, 2023: Admission phase (transmission of admission proposals to candidates and response of candidates to these proposals)
  • Until July 20th, 2023: Administrative registration with institutions, according to the schedule established by each one.
