Program Overview

Introduction to CEDRE

CEDRE, the Centre de formation et de soutien aux Données de la REcherche, is a program at Aix Marseille Université, part of the France 2030 IDeAL project. It provides key competencies related to data management throughout their life cycle, supporting research actors and their partners.

Objectives and Scope

CEDRE aims to enable the scientific community to exploit the full potential of its data. It positions itself within the research support ecosystem, interacting with existing infrastructures and services. The program collaborates closely with various entities, including the Datacentre, Mésocentre, DirNum, SCD, DRV, DPO, MMSH, and PUD-AMU, leveraging the specific expertise of research units.

Target Audience

CEDRE addresses the entire community, including academic and administrative staff, as well as doctoral students. It offers a single point of contact for data-related advice, expertise, or support: the Guichet de la Donnée du site Aix Marseille (GDsAM).

Organization and Expertise

CEDRE consists of:

  • 15 members
  • 2 Pôles d'expertises: INFRASTRUCTURE and DATA
  • 1 chargé d'affaires juridique, expert in data protection It also hosts regular interns (License and Master levels) and alternation contracts (Master 2).

Pôle INFRASTRUCTURE

Supports research projects, contact William Domingues Vinhas.

Pôle DATA

Supports research projects and provides training in Data Science, contact Youssef Trardi. The Pôle DATA offers a solution called D-VELOP: Data-Visualization Exploration Learning Optimization & Processing, a toolbox for artificial intelligence that facilitates data treatment and analysis.

D-VELOP Objectives and Functionality

D-VELOP aims to:

  • Provide an autonomous and secure workspace for simplified data treatment and analysis
  • Offer a complete set of tools without requiring installation, accessible to non-expert users, facilitating initiation into Data Science
  • Enable the use of advanced algorithms without configuration and maintenance complications Its functionality includes:
    • Autonomous and secure workspace
    • Complete set of accessible tools
    • Advanced algorithm utilization

Formations and Webinaires

Available formations include:

  • Cycle de formation doctorale en Data Science (4 modules)
  • Sensibilisation ŕ la Gestion des données de recherche Upcoming formations:
  • Cycles de sensibilisation and d'approfondissement en Data Science (deployment in 2025) Webinaires cover topics such as:
  • Exploring ethical and regulatory issues of artificial intelligence in research
  • Articulation between RGPD and AI Act
  • Intellectual property questions related to AI in research
  • Recherche Data Gouv and the institutional repository DAT'AMU

Projects

CEDRE is involved in several projects, including:

  • 4D-OMICS: A project piloted by William Domingues Vinhas and Souleymane Hamidou Salou, aiming to establish a regional digital resource for biology research programs.
  • COMP Recherche & Innovation: A project led by Youssef Trardi, Salim Sadoune, Souleymane Ba, and Antoine Chopard, focusing on developing a dynamic tool for tracking competencies and projects of research units.
