Introduction to the SQA 3+1 Program

The SQA 3+1 program is a collaborative effort between the Chinese Ministry of Education and the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) to promote educational cooperation and exchange between China and the UK. The program aims to cultivate international, high-level, and applied talents by combining high-quality foreign curriculum systems with domestic university resources.


Program Overview

The program's basic academic system is 3+1, where students spend three years studying at East China Normal University, completing English language proficiency enhancement, foundation courses, and SQA professional courses. In the fourth year, students enter a foreign university to complete subsequent courses and graduate with a bachelor's degree from the foreign university.

  1. Financial Services: Focuses on financial, securities, and investment banking fields, providing students with professional knowledge of finance, currency, investment, and decision-making.
    • Career directions: Investment banking, corporate finance, accounting development departments, accounting firms, state-owned and foreign banks, government agencies, industry associations, and investment advisory institutions.
  2. Business with Accounting: Designed for students interested in finance, accounting, corporate governance, and trade, providing systematic instruction in business analysis, entrepreneurship evaluation, financial accounting, and statement analysis.
    • Career directions: Enterprises, public institutions, big four accounting firms, corporate accounting and financial development departments, human resources departments, marketing, and foreign trade.
  3. Global Trade and Business: Aims to cultivate talents with an international vision and a broad academic background, mastering economic theory, international business and trade professionals, and English communication and cross-cultural communication skills.
    • Career directions: Foreign trade and economic departments of enterprises and institutions, government management departments, markets, business administration, foreign trade, education, and scientific research departments.
  4. Business: Focuses on cultivating management talents with strong cross-cultural communication and interdisciplinary understanding abilities, emphasizing truth, independent thinking, and international understanding.
    • Career directions: Management positions in enterprises and institutions, market planning, and comprehensive affairs departments.
  5. Creative Art and Design: Aims to cultivate design talents with innovative thinking, problem-solving abilities, solid artistic foundation, and sensitive design perception, as well as multiple professional abilities and good communication and cooperation skills.
    • Career directions: Advertising companies, media agencies, publishing and printing, internet companies, brand design companies, design consulting, innovative product research and development departments, and more.

Curriculum and Advancement

  • The first year of study includes international foundation courses, such as comprehensive English, academic English, IELTS intensive, higher mathematics, and more.
  • The second and third years consist of SQA professional courses, with approximately 24 courses per major.
  • Students who complete the first year of study, achieve a passing grade, and obtain an IELTS score of 5.0 or above can enter the second and third years of study and register for SQA academic credits.

Admission Details

  • Admission Objects: High school graduates (including equivalent academic backgrounds) who aspire to study abroad.
  • Admission Requirements:
    1. Participate in the school's self-enrollment examination and interview before the college entrance examination, achieving a passing score (60%) and passing the interview.
    2. Achieve a college entrance examination score above the undergraduate admission line, with an English score of 110 or above (Shanghai college entrance examination English score of 100 or above), and pass the interview.
  • Tuition Fees:
    • Tuition: 72,000 yuan per year (domestic)
    • SQA academic credit registration fee and certificate fee: according to SQA's annual published standards
    • Application fee: 500 yuan
    • Course retake fee: according to course credits
    • Textbook and material fees: actual purchase price
    • Other fees: accidental injury insurance (optional) 100 yuan per year, military training uniforms, military training base accommodation, and food expenses are self-paid.
  • Enrollment Plan: 350 students (including 40 transfer students) for the 2026 academic year.
