Collaboration with the University of Alberta
The University of Alberta, founded in 1908, is a member of the U15 research university alliance in Canada. It is renowned for its programs in earth sciences, petroleum engineering, chemistry, commerce, agriculture, biomedicine, and sports. The university is ranked 77th in the 2023 CWUR world university rankings and 92nd in the 2022 Soft Science world university academic rankings.
History of Collaboration
The collaboration between the university and the University of Alberta began in 2007. Since then, 36 undergraduate students have been sent to the University of Alberta for summer research internships, sponsored by the China Scholarship Council. In 2018, the two universities jointly established the East China Normal University - University of Alberta Advanced Science and Technology Joint Research Institute to conduct cutting-edge scientific research.

International Education Center
The International Education Center at the university has discussed cooperation with the University of Alberta, including the restart of the "CLIC Canada Study in China Program" in 2024.
