Introduction to the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship - Language Study Program

The International Chinese Teacher Scholarship - Language Study Program is a scholarship program designed for non-Chinese citizens who are interested in studying Chinese language and culture. The program is offered by the East China Normal University (ECNU) and is sponsored by the Chinese government.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a non-Chinese citizen
• Be in good physical and mental health
• Have a good academic record and a strong interest in Chinese language and culture
• Be between the ages of 16 and 35 (or 45 for in-service Chinese language teachers)
• Have a minimum HSK score of 210 (or a certificate of completion from a Chinese language proficiency test)
• Not have received a similar scholarship in the past three years

Scholarship Content

The scholarship includes:

• Tuition waiver
• Free accommodation on campus
• A monthly stipend of ¥2,500
• Comprehensive medical insurance (¥800 per year)

Application Procedure

The application procedure consists of three steps:

1. Online Application: Applicants must submit their applications through the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship website and the ECNU online application system.
2. Review and Evaluation: The ECNU will review and evaluate the applications based on the eligibility criteria and selection criteria.
3. Admission and Registration: Successful applicants will receive an admission notice and must register at the ECNU within the specified timeframe.

Application Materials

Applicants must submit the following materials:

• Online application form
• Passport photo page
• HSK or HSKK score report
• Recommendation letter from a supervisor or teacher
• Highest degree certificate and transcript
• Personal statement (in Chinese or English)
• Foreigner Physical Examination Form
• Certificate of non-criminal record
• Application fee (¥800)
