Program Overview


ASPIRE's New International Research Program

ASPIRE is introducing a new International Research Experience program, offering students the opportunity to conduct research at the University of Auckland. This program is made possible by the recently acquired NSF International Research Experience for Students grant.


Program Details

  • The program will select seven students each year for the next three years to spend 10 weeks conducting research at the University of Auckland.
  • Students will receive a $7,000 stipend and one-on-one guidance from two faculty mentors, one in the U.S. and one at the University of Auckland.
  • The program aims to provide students with an international experience, engaging with different communities and gaining new perspectives on electrified transportation.

Research Opportunities

  • Students will participate in various activities, including tours and field engagements in different regions of New Zealand.
  • The program will equip students with valuable skills, opening doors to future opportunities in the field of electrified transportation.

Eligibility and Application

  • The program is available to all undergraduate and graduate students interested in electric vehicles and roadways.
  • Applications will open in September and close in December, with selected candidates notified in the spring.
