Program Overview
Introduction to uniWORKcity
uniWORKcity is a program designed to support international students in their integration into the German job market. The program is offered by the Ruhr-Universit‰t Bochum and aims to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the German workforce.
Program Description
The uniWORKcity program is a modular project that offers a range of activities and services to support international students in their career development. The program includes:
- Strategieentwicklung (strategy development)
- Berufsbezogenes Deutsch (job-related German language skills)
- Bewerbungstrainings (application training)
- Empowermentelementen (empowerment elements)
- Praxiskontakte (practical contacts) for building a professional network
Target Group
The uniWORKcity program is designed for international students who are enrolled in a higher semester at one of the UniverCity universities in Bochum. To be eligible for the program, students must:
- Be an international student (non-German citizenship)
- Have a higher education entrance qualification acquired abroad
- Be enrolled as a Bachelor or Master student at one of the UniverCity universities
- Have a minimum language proficiency of B2 in German
Program Structure
The program includes a range of activities, such as:
- A weekly hybrid German language course ("Berufsbezogenes Deutsch") on Thursdays from 10-12 am
- Inputs and workshops on various topics, such as application preparation, residence and work permits, and industry-specific information, on Wednesdays from 2-4 pm via Zoom
- Optional digital or in-person events
All mandatory events will take place on Wednesdays from 2-4 pm during the lecture period. A curricular anchorage will be sought for regular participants.

The uniWORKcity program aims to support international students in their integration into the German job market and to provide them with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their careers. The program also aims to promote the development of a professional network and to support students in their personal and professional growth.
