Introduction to LabExchange
The LabExchange program is designed to promote student mobility and research-oriented learning, enabling students to develop intercultural competencies. By integrating students into international research collaborations, the program aims to establish and consolidate long-term cooperative structures. The ultimate goal is to strengthen the impact of international research cooperation on the university's teaching.
Program Objectives
The LabExchange program has the following objectives:

Program Details
The program is no longer offering funding for lecturers' research trips. Instead, lecturers are advised to utilize the opportunities provided by the International Office.
Research Areas and Collaborations
The program focuses on promoting international research collaborations and integrating students into these collaborations. The goal is to establish durable cooperative structures and enhance the university's teaching through international research cooperation.
Previous Research Collaborations
Previous collaborations have included research stays in countries such as Japan, Vietnam, and Australia. These collaborations have been reported on in various press releases, including those published in the Rheinische Post and the Bochumer Stadt- und Studierendenzeitung.
Program Adjustment
As of 2021, the LabExchange program has been continued in an adapted form by the Outbound Mobility Services of the International Office. Information on funding for research stays abroad can now be found on the International Office's website.
