Program Overview
Solvation Scholars Undergraduate Exchange Program
The Solvation Scholars Undergraduate Exchange program, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, offers students an insight into cutting-edge research in the interdisciplinary field of solvation science. Researchers from RESOLV investigate how solvent molecules are actively involved in controlling, mediating, and regulating chemical reactions.
Program Content and Structure
This exchange program includes a one-week summer school and a 2-3 month laboratory internship with experienced researchers from chemistry, physics, spectroscopy, biochemistry, and other disciplines. Possible project topics can be chosen from areas such as spectroscopy, molecular modeling, kinetics, synthesis, and related fields.
The program begins with the international Graduate School Solvation Science (iGSS) summer school, providing an introduction to the latest techniques and disciplines in solvation science. This includes lectures by renowned solvation scientists, career workshops with industry experts, and a laboratory internship to gain hands-on experience. The program also offers the unique opportunity to meet and exchange experiences with other young researchers at various stages of their careers.
The second part of the exchange is a two- to three-month research project in one of the RESOLV working groups. In close collaboration with experienced scientists, students conduct their own research project and present their findings to all program participants.
