M.Sc. Psychology with a Focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy
The 4-semester Master's program in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy leads to a second professionally qualifying degree. The program is a research-oriented, scientific study that conveys a broad foundation of knowledge as well as methods, theories, and practical competencies.
Program Description
The program aims to provide students with the competencies required for independent and comprehensive work in the field of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy. The focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, as well as scientific research in the field of Clinical Psychology across the lifespan. Students are prepared not only for psychotherapeutic work but also for careers in psychosocial institutions, healthcare systems (e.g., counseling), and prevention (e.g., health training).
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the program, applicants must have a degree from a minimum 6-semester Bachelor's program in Psychology (180 CP) or a comparable program. The Bachelor's program must meet the structural and content requirements according to § 9 Abs. 4 PsychThG i.V.m. § 7 PsychThG and §§ 12-15 and the annex of the PsychThApprO.
- Foreign or stateless applicants who did not acquire their qualifications at a German-speaking institution must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the German language.

Program Content
The program covers the content and formal criteria of the PsychThApprO in full. Graduates of the Master's program in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy acquire the prerequisites to take the state psychotherapeutic examination according to the PsychThApprO.
