Introduction to the Bachelor of Maritime Engineering Program

The Bachelor of Maritime Engineering (Specialisation) (Honours) (Cooperative Education) is a 5-year full-time program, with the option to study up to 11 years part-time, offered at the Launceston AMC. The AMC is ranked #1 in the International Association of Maritime Universities.

Program Overview

This program allows high-achieving students to combine a Bachelor of Maritime Engineering with 15-18 months of practical experience in their chosen specialisation. Students work under the supervision of professional engineers, gaining experience in their chosen career and valuable industry experience. The program alternates between full-time study and periods of full-time paid work experience.

Study Options

A major is an area of focus in the degree. During their studies, students choose an area that interests them and then study a group of units related to that area.

Specialisations

• Naval Architecture: focuses on the design and construction of everything from submarines and naval ships to luxury yachts, ferries, and cargo vessels. Students can gain expertise in the shipping, high-speed, offshore, defence, underwater, and recreational industries.

• Ocean Engineering: involves advanced studies of the ocean environment and the conditions that impact the life cycle of marine structures. This specialisation focuses on the design, construction, and operation of offshore, subsea, and coastal structures.
