The Bachelor of Applied Science (Nautical Science) is a 4-year full-time or up to 9-year part-time program offered in Launceston and online. The Australian Maritime College (AMC) is ranked #1 in the International Association of Maritime Universities benchmarks.

Program Details

This degree prepares students for a career as a Navigation Deck Officer, eventually leading to the rank of a ship's captain. The program covers topics such as:

• Vessel handling and management
• Transport
• Marine legislation
• Shipboard safety

Career Outcomes

The course provides eligibility towards obtaining a Certificate of Competency issued by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). Graduates can pursue careers as:

• Deck Watchkeeper
• Chief Mate/Master
