Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours (M4N)
Overview
The Honours program in Medical Science is designed to provide students with a firm foundation for further study in medicine and future vocational career pathways. The opportunity to undertake an in-depth research project will provide an important understanding of the processes of medical research in laboratory, community and clinical settings.
Duration
Minimum 1 Year, up to a maximum of 3 years. This course is available to study as both part-time or full-time.
Location
Hobart, Cradle Coast, Launceston, with availability in Semester 1 and Semester 2.
Course Structure
You will complete 100 credit points of core units, including:
- CAM426 - Medical Research 1
- CAM427 - Medical Research 2
- CAM428 - Medical Research 3
- CAM429 - Medical Research 4
- XSB400 - Honours (administrative unit for recording Honours grades and marks)
Entry Requirements
For Domestic and International students:
- Submitted a completed Project Application Confirmation Form before submitting an application for entry into the honours course.
- Completed at least three years of 100% load in M3N, or similar approved course interstate; with credit average, or equivalent. For International students, additional requirements include:
- IELTS (Academic) Overall 7.0 (target no individual band less than 7.0), unless commenced or completed the MBBS at UTAS within the last 5 years.

The profession of Medicine offers a diverse range of career opportunities. Graduates of the BMedSc (Hons) will be well placed for advanced vocational career pathways including specialist training in various fields.
Fees & Scholarships
Domestic Students
- Commonwealth Supported Place indicative annual fee: $9,312.
- HECS-HELP loans available for eligible students.
International Students
- 2026 Total Tuition Fee: $39,950 AUD.
- International students are charged the Student Services and Amenities Fee, incorporated in the annual rate.
