Unit Overview

The Local Lives for a Sustainable Planet unit (KGA107) is a capstone unit that provides students with the opportunity to apply sustainability knowledge and literacy to aspects of their own life and identify how it can contribute to sustainable outcomes within their wider community and globally.

Introduction

This unit integrates theory and practice of sustainable living within a systems thinking environment, studying social change as a dynamic, critical thinking process. It examines techniques, frameworks, and tools for progressing sustainable living through contemporary, reflective facilitation methods. Interactive online activities enable students to explore different approaches to systems thinking, tackling the interrelatedness and multidisciplinary nature of sustainability challenges and opportunities.

Requisites

Prerequisites

HEJ111 or KAA106 plus 37.5 credit points of study in Z1K or Z0U.

Teaching

The unit is taught entirely online with optional workshops. Assessment is 100% internal, with no examination, and includes:

• AT1: Knowledge Tree Synthesis (20%)
• AT2: Intervention for Change (40%)
• AT3: Practise Manual (40%)
