Learning Outcomes

Students who complete this unit will be able to:

• Manage an independent research project to its completion by executing planned methods, adapting in response to contingencies.
• Apply advanced or specialised knowledge in one or more discipline or sub-discipline of engineering to achieve project outcomes.
• Generate, analyse, display and interpret both raw and processed data to support project outcomes.
• Draw conclusions on the outcomes of an investigation, with reference to prior literature, to answer a research question, explain the novelty and significance of findings, identify limitations, and propose potential follow-on work.
• Communicate the motivation for, techniques used in, and results and outcomes of a research project in both live oral and written forms.

Teaching

The teaching pattern for this unit includes:

• Industry project defence with poster (10%)
• Presentation (10%)
• Draft Thesis/paper (20%)
• Final Thesis/paper (60%)
