Online Pharmacy Technician Program

The Online Pharmacy Technician program is designed to prepare students for the national certification exam and a career as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).

  • The program is approved by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • Rolling admission, with students able to begin the program on the 15th of any month.

Course Expectations

  • Completion Requirements: To successfully complete the course, students must view all lecture and demonstration videos, review course handouts, score 90% or higher on all module and workshop assessments, and attend the required skills workshop.

After Course Completion: Taking the National Exam

  1. Visit ptcb.org and create a PTCB account.
  2. Apply for certification and schedule the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) online or at a local testing center.

How to Become a CPhT

  • Meet state and national requirements, including applying through the state board of pharmacy and completing a training program.
  • Pass the PTCB national exam to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).

About the PTCB Examination

  • Format: 90 multiple-choice questions (80 scored, 10 unscored).
  • Duration: ~2 hours total (includes tutorial and survey).
  • Delivery: Online proctored or at 1,400+ Pearson VUE testing centers.
  • Results: Unofficial results provided immediately, with official results available in the PTCB account within 3 weeks.
