Overview of the Primary Care Residency Program
The Primary Care Residency Program is designed to provide advanced training and exposure to primary care topics, helping residents feel prepared to provide exceptional and compassionate care to all patients, especially those who are traditionally underserved.
Program Structure
The program involves dedicated educational sessions throughout the three years of training, focused on primary care specific topics. These sessions include:
- Weekly sessions during two months of the year (8 Thursday academic half days in July and March)
- Weekly Wednesday morning conferences on outpatient and elective months
- 6 conferences each year dedicated to the Primary Care track curriculum for upper-level residents
Curriculum
The curriculum aims to expand residents' training horizons by supporting their ambulatory teaching skills, connecting them with critical community-based resources, and preparing them to be primary care leaders in the future. The curriculum includes:
- Dedicated primary care intern curricula
- Weekly dedicated educational sessions on Monday mornings during clinic months to learn about core primary care topics
- Harm Reduction Action Center of Denver Field Trip
- PC Intern Nexplanon Workshop
