Program Overview


Introduction to the Division of Hospital Medicine

The Division of Hospital Medicine is dedicated to providing high-value care for a diverse patient population, while developing the next generation of physicians.


Mission

The mission of the Division of Hospital Medicine is to set the national standard for general internal medicine residency training in inpatient care and generate innovation for acute care education, including a focus on procedural competency and interprofessional practice.


Medicine Ward Teaching Service

The Medicine Ward Teaching Service is an educational service with the goal of providing clinically excellent and high-value patient care to complex, hospitalized patients, while also providing a robust educational experience for Internal Medicine Residents, Interns, Medical Students, and Advanced Practice Provider Fellows.


Clinical Care

Clinically, the service cares for a diverse patient population from the Denver Metro region, as well as patients from surrounding regions requiring quaternary specialized medicine. The team works closely with interprofessional and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate specialty services, as well as ancillary services and care management for patients.


Educational Goals

Educationally, the goal is to support learners in excelling in the competencies required to care for hospitalized patients, which includes the delivery of high-value and team-based care, development of clinical reasoning expertise and procedural competency, with a focus on building leadership skills.


Faculty and Leadership

Faculty within the Division of Hospital Medicine attend on the service, with a team dedicated to faculty within the Department of Medicine, providing unique exposure to General Internal Medicine and Subspecialty Medicine.
