Nursing BS Honors Program
The Nursing BS Honors Program is designed to promote scholarship through intellectual and personal development. This program is only available to students accepted into the Traditional BS in Nursing Pathway.
What is the Honors Program?
The honors program is rigorous and in addition to the undergraduate nursing curriculum. It includes:
- Six additional credits focused on research and scholarship
- A scholarly paper (known as a thesis) and a poster presentation
Enhance Your Education
The program provides personalized mentorship based on the student's research area of interest. It enhances scientific writing, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. Honors students receive preferential consideration for admission to the PhD program.
How to Apply
To apply, the following materials must be submitted before the deadline:
- One-page resume or curriculum vitae (CV)
- An honors program questionnaire
- Two letters of reference from former faculty and/or research supervisor
- An essay describing interest in the program and research, and how it benefits the student's career
- In-person interview
Application Deadline
The application deadline for the BS Honors Program is April 1.
Additional Information
- Students are responsible for covering additional tuition costs for the first semester, after which CU Anschutz Nursing covers the costs.
- Honors students receive an honor cord and special recognition in the commencement program.
