Department of Family Medicine

  • Monthly Activities: The program has monthly activities, including CU athlete physicals, AMSSM fellows' research and leadership conference, and select research project.

CU Sports Medicine Fellowship Year at a Glance

The fellowship program has a yearly schedule that includes:


  • July: CU athlete physicals, AMSSM fellows' research and leadership conference, and select research project.
  • August: CU and DU sports physicals, school PPEs, and CU football summer camp.
  • September: CU and high school game coverage, Colorado Avalanche PPEs, and Bear Chase Run medical director.
  • October: CU, DU, and high school game coverage, AMSSM foundation research grant submission, and fellowship interview season begins.
  • November: CU and high school game coverage, fellowship interview season continues, and CHCO sports medicine symposium.
  • December: CU football bowl game and practices, AMSSM research abstract submission, and NRMP rank order list due.
  • January: AMSSM in-training exam, 2nd quarter fellow evaluations, and ACGME annual survey.
  • February: Winter Park coverage, AMSSM/ACSM clinical research grant, and register for CAQ through primary certification board.
  • March: Winter Park coverage, CU Lax coverage, and register for CAQ.
  • April: Winter Park coverage, CU football spring game, CHCO ortho day symposium, and AMSSM annual conference.
  • May: Real Cup soccer tournament, CAPS PPEs, and deadline to submit CME money.
  • June: CU freshman football PPE, Rush soccer tournament, and CU sports fellows research presentations.
