Program Overview
Quercus Talented Students' Programme
The Quercus Talented Students' Programme is a scholarship program offered by University College Cork. The program aims to support talented students in various fields, including academic, sports, and creative arts.
Retention
To retain the scholarship throughout the program of study, recipients must meet certain requirements, including:
- Meeting the progression requirements of the program of study
- Successfully passing the Annual Review Process and specific Review Processes
- Attending required Quercus events each academic year
- Fulfilling ambassadorial duties deemed appropriate
- Agreeing to and abiding by the Quercus Terms of Reference and Memorandum of Understanding
- Acting as ambassadors of the University and the Quercus Programme
- Demonstrating active engagement with the Quercus Programme
- Completing the Quercus Programme End of Year Statement and Impact Form annually
Discontinuation of Quercus Sports Scholarship
Discontinuation of a Quercus Sports Scholarship may occur where a scholar is deemed no longer eligible, including:
- Withdrawing from the University
- Failing to pass the annual review
- Being found in breach of the Student Rules
- Not meeting the agreed progression requirements of the program of study
- Being found in breach of the Quercus Terms of Reference
- Not meeting the criteria set out in the retention section
Annual Review Process
The Annual Review Process involves:
- Establishing a Review Group
- Receiving annual progress reports for each scholar
- Determining if the Quercus Sports Scholar has fulfilled the terms and conditions of membership
- Informing scholars who have not fulfilled the conditions of membership in writing
- Inviting scholars to attend a meeting with the Review Group
- Notifying scholars of their right to appeal the decision of the Group
Annual Review Appeals Procedures
Quercus Sports Scholars may appeal a decision of the Review Group to the Appeals Committee on specified grounds, including:
- New evidence
- Procedural irregularity
End of Year Statement and Impact Form
All scholars must fill out an End of Year Statement and Impact Form, which is usually sent to scholars in early April with a return date of late April.
