Program Overview
Introduction to the Raymond Shanahan Prize 2021
The Raymond Shanahan Prize 2021 is awarded biennially on the basis of a submission of original observations or published research paper(s) in a topic related to Cardiovascular disease.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible candidates are post-registration non-consultant hospital doctors and their equivalent in G.P. Trainee Schemes. Eligibility is confined to graduates of University College Cork Medical School and graduates from other medical schools training in the University's teaching hospitals or training schemes.
Application Requirements
- The applicant must be the first author of the work.
- Applicants should submit a copy of the work to be considered, with a letter from the Head of the Department where the work was carried out, indicating the applicant is the primary author.
- The work may consist of a published, or in press paper, a case study/presentation/observation written up as for publication, or a research work/observation.
- The work done, or the published paper must be within 2 calendar years of the advertised award.
Award Details
- The prize shall be awarded at the UCC Medical Graduates Association Annual Scientific Meeting.
- The award consists of a script and honorarium, currently valued at approximately 600.
