Program Overview
University College Cork Overview
University College Cork is a registered charity with the Charities Regulatory Authority. The university provides various programs and initiatives for students, staff, and the community.
Civic and Community Engagement
The university offers civic and community engagement programs, including the Neighbourhood Grant Scheme. This scheme aims to provide small seed funding to assist neighbors in undertaking community projects, with collaboration from UCC students and/or staff.
Neighbourhood Grant Scheme
The Neighbourhood Grant Scheme is intended for projects that are small scale, achievable, sustainable, and benefit the community. This could include graffiti removal, biodiversity projects, education, or cultural initiatives. The initiative also aims to contribute to community life by fostering positive connections between local residents, UCC staff members, and UCC students.
- Projects can apply for up to 250 in funding.
- To run a project, you need an idea, a plan to involve local people, including students or staff, and to keep a record, maybe in photos.
- You also need to share the story of your project and report on the success of the project.
Application Process
Applications for the Neighbourhood Grant Scheme are due on or before 12 noon on Friday, 28th of October 2022. Completed projects should send a short project report via email.
Eligibility
At this time, the scheme is a pilot, and only neighborhoods in the Cork South Central and South West Districts, that have significant numbers of UCC students residing in the area, are invited to apply.
