Thermal Processing Course

The Thermal Processing course is a two-day course that covers a variety of topics necessary for those involved in formulating, developing, commercializing, manufacturing, and troubleshooting thermally-processed nutritional dairy-based beverages. The course will be funded by ICOS Skillnet.

The course is designed for R&D, NPD, Operations, Technical, QA, QC personnel involved in formulating, developing, commercializing, manufacturing, and troubleshooting thermally-processed nutritional dairy-based beverages.

• Day 1:
  • Section 1: Raw milk quality; fitness for heat treatment
  • Section 2: Reaction kinetics
  • Section 3: Pasteurization and extended shelf life (ESL)
  • Section 4: UHT processing technologies
  • Section 5: In-container milk sterilization
  • Section 6: Thermal transfer
• Day 2:
  • Section 1: UHT engineering aspects
  • Section 2: Milk product stability: challenges and opportunities
  • Section 3: Nutrient stability during thermal processing
  • Section 4: Alternative and non-thermal food processing technologies
  • Section 5: Analytical supports for thermal processing
  • Section 6: Storage of UHT milk and some analytical procedures

Course Fee

The course fee is 650 euros. Partial funding may be available through ICOS Skillnet for eligible participants.
